Shelley has over 20 years of public accounting experience. In addition to being a CPA, she is a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) and Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF), specialty credentials with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Shelley earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Central Washington University. Focusing entirely on business valuation and litigation support, her specialties include business valuation (estate and gift tax planning, financial statement presentation, marital dissolution, shareholder disputes, purchase/sale consulting, etc.), pension and social security valuation issues, personal economic loss calculations (for personal injury and wrongful death cases) and fraud investigation. She has testified in Superior courts throughout the state of Washington, Federal Court and in the Superior Court of Clark County, Nevada. She has published several articles in her field of expertise and is a popular seminar speaker.

Charles R. McCann, CPA
Charles R. McCann, CPA provides consulting services to our firm and our clients. Charles is a long-time resource for The Doty Group and has special expertise in helping CPA firms around the country better serve their clients. He also provides Business Valuation and Tax Planning services to clients for The Doty Group and for his own company.
McCann was a founder of the national firm, Mayer Hoffman McCann and served for over ten years as the firm’s first managing partner. He was the former president of the Kansas City Society of CPAs and has held many civic and charitable board positions.
He earned his Master’s Degree in Accounting from Wichita State University and holds a Bachelors of Business Administration degree from Pittsburg State University. He is a frequent speaker for both clients and CPA firms on Compensation and Exit Strategies and is the author of the book, "Harvard Should Give MBAs to Paperboys," now in its second printing and first published in 1995.
Alexandra Marler, CPA, MBA
Alex brings 20 years of experience to the firm, primarily in the Real Estate and Construction industries. Her focus as a Senior Accountant on the Doty team will be in the Accounting Services and Tax service lines. She has an MBA from Pacific Lutheran University and a BBA from the University of Washington.
The firm’s size, innovative technology, and the fun people on the team made easy Alex’s choice to join Doty. A self-entitled “military brat,” she has lived in Germany and can speak German. She’s adding to the growing group of musically-inclined staff at Doty, as she plays clarinet AND piano.

Catalin Clarke, CPA
A 2015 graduate from The University of Washington - Tacoma, Catalin is originally from the Olympia area, and now calls Tacoma home. He has 3 years of Accounting experience with a focus in taxation, and has the most experience working with restaurants, professional services, and small/ closely held businesses. He is a former board member of My Sister's Pantry, and currently volunteers time to Rebuilding Together. Catalin joined The Doty Group to be a part of a team with “a commitment to client service, paired with the traditions and flexibility to succeed in the past, present, and future.”
Danielle was born and raised in California and has two daughters. She went to school for Business Administration in California, and joined the firm in February of 2018. She has 8 years of Administrative experience. At The Doty Group, she assists clients with communications, performs database management, and provides data entry support to Accounting Services. She is an active participant/ volunteer in the JBLM Family Readiness Group.
Darryl Spencer, CPA
Darryl has been with the firm since 2012. He graduated from Western Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting. Darryl obtained his CPA license in January 2014. He has experience in Business and Individual Taxation, Audit, and Assurance services.
He is a member of the Master Builder's Association of Pierce County, WA. Darryl is currently working on his Masters in Taxation degree at Golden Gate University.
David's focus is in taxation with a specific expertise in state and local tax (SALT). Throughout his 12 years of experience in accounting, he has worked on compliance and consulting projects for companies within the construction, manufacturing, and wholesale/distribution industries.
A native of Seattle, David is a graduate of Seattle Central College and Central Washington University. Outside of the professional world, he races bicycles in a few different disciplines, goes backpacking with his wife, and is into photography and cooking. He also spends time with the Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance, Washington Trails Association, American Alpine Club, and The Mountaineers – usually out building and maintaining trails.
Deb joined The Doty Group in December 2015. She provides business and accounting, human resource, strategic planning, and software integration consultation to clients in the Professional Services, Construction, and Not-for-profit industries.
Deb has spent 18+ years in public accounting and 20+ years in human resources. Prior to public accounting, Deb spent 12 years in the banking industry.
She holds the following certifications: Senior Professional in Human Resources through HRCI; Senior Certified Professional through SHRM; and QuickBooks Advanced Certificate through Intuit.

Heidi joined The Doty Group team in January 2015 after spending seven years in the Insurance industry. Prior to that, she raised two boys and spent time working for Tacoma Public Schools as a Para-educator in a special needs classroom. She is a crucial part of our administrative team - handling billing, client service, and other essential functions.
Holly Hayes, CPA, MS (Tax)
Holly graduated from University of Washington – Tacoma in 2011 with her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, Accounting. Holly obtained her CPA license in May of 2014. She is currently working on her Masters in Taxation at Golden Gate University.
Jeffrey R. Doty, JD, LLM
Senior Tax Manager
Jeff joined The Doty Group in March of 2012 after graduating from the University of Washington School of Law, where he earned a J.D. and an LLM in Taxation. He was admitted to the Washington State Bar in August of that year. Jeff's focuses are in the areas of estate and gift planning, mergers and acquisitions, entity formation, and individual income tax planning for small business owners.
Jennifer McQuilkin, CPA, MS (Tax)
Senior Tax Manager
Jennifer earned a Master of Science in Taxation from Golden Gate University in 2017, and graduated Cum Laude from Pacific Lutheran University in 2005 with her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. She has been with the firm since fall of that same year. She obtained her CPA license in December 2008. Jennifer has experience with tax, audit and assurance services, and bookkeeping and payroll services through QuickBooks.
Joan joined The Doty Group in May of 2016. She graduated in June of 2016 with honors from Tacoma Community College with an Associates Degree in Applied Science - Accounting. Her primary focus is providing outsourced bookkeeping and payroll services to Doty Group business clients.
Joe joined The Doty Group in October of 2017. He graduated from Lipscomb University, TN with a Bachelor’s of Science in Molecular Biology in 2013. After spending some time in real estate, he went back to the University of Washington for a Certificate in Accounting in 2017 and is currently working on his Masters in Accounting at the University of Washington - Tacoma. Upon graduation he will be working towards his CPA.
A 2018 graduate from Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Corporate Finance, Jordan grew up in Grimes, Iowa and moved to the Tacoma/Gig Harbor area in 2018. She likes tennis, riding horses (her horse is named George) and watching NFL. She has volunteer experience with Junior Achievement of Greater Kansas City, where she and other business students taught basic economic and financial concepts to 5th graders.
Karen Pitchford, CPA
Karen joined The Doty Group in January 2017. She graduated from the University of Washington Milgard School of Business in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, concentration in Accounting. She also has a Bachelor of Arts in Hispanic Studies. She has studied in Costa Rica, Argentina, and Spain, and speaks Spanish fluently. She obtained her CPA license in Fall of 2017.
Karen has over 10 years of experience in customer service roles in restaurants and retail, and prior to joining The Doty Group, worked in recruiting - performing A/P, A/R, payroll, and payroll tax administration duties.
Born and raised in south King County, Karen now lives in the Gig Harbor area. She graduated with honors from Bates Technical College in 2018 with an Associates of Applied Science in Accounting. In her spare time, she likes hanging out with her dog and two cats, camping, kayaking, and cooking.
As an Accounting Assistant at Doty, Karen works with our clients provide accounting support through customized programs that include services such as city, county, and state tax reporting, A/P and A/R, bank reconciliations, 1099 and W-2 prep, and more.
Katherine graduated with honors from Westmont College, a small institution in Santa Barbara, California, in May 2016 with a Bachelor in English. She enjoyed participating in the College Choir and studying abroad in United Kingdom while attending Westmont. Katherine joined The Doty Group in March 2017.
Katy Bardizian, CPA
Director of Accounting Services
Katy graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS in Business Administration from the University of Montana in 2002, and in 2003 received a Masters in Accounting. She received the Outstanding Senior in the School of Business Administration award, the Naseby Rhinehart Scholarship, the Robert O. Lindsay Scholar Athlete President’s Award, and the Elaine Murray Award.
Katy has 15 years of professional experience, with former roles as an Assistant Controller at a financial services company and as a Senior Audit Associate at a Big 4 firm. She coaches her daughter’s U10 volleyball team at South Sound Volleyball Club and is very active with her family in sports.
Katy leads our Accounting Services department by serving a CFO-like advisory role as a strategic partner to our clients, with the support of our accountants for core services.
Senior Tax Accountant
Kerri provides tax and audit assistance for the firm during tax season. She graduated from Western New Mexico University, Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, and went on to Post-Baccalaureate studies in Accounting at the University of Washington and Central Washington University. Kerri has over 9 years of experience with her professional focus in bookkeeping, tax, audit, and review services.
Kyle Slaney joined The Doty Group in August of 2018. Originally from Seabeck, WA, he moved to Tacoma to attend UW Tacoma, where he graduated cum laude in April of 2016 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. He came to the firm with 2 years of experience, focusing in the nonprofit industry. Kyle volunteers for Potlatch Fund, a Native-led nonprofit based in Seattle, which promotes traditional Native American arts and culture through leadership, grants, and nonprofit development.
Linda Shupack, CPA, MBA

Linda Shupack is the Director of Audit & Assurance Services, with over 20 years of public accounting experience. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Northern Arizona University and received her Master’s in Business Administration from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. Linda’s areas of expertise include financial audits, reviews, and other attest services, focusing primarily on serving small to medium-sized businesses and not-for-profit organizations. She has served clients in both the private and public sector and has a broad array of experience across many industries, ranging from financial institutions and professional services to retail, manufacturing, distribution and high-tech. In addition, Linda is an active member of the WSCPA Not-For-Profit Committee.
Lisa N. Farmer, EA
Accounting Services Supervisor
Lisa joined The Doty Group in February of 2017. She graduated from The University of Utah with a Bachelor's degree in Economics and obtained her Enrolled Agent license in June 2012. Lisa is a Candidate for the Uniform CPA Exam and is working diligently to obtain her CPA license. Lisa has over 15 years of public accounting experience providing bookkeeping and payroll services to businesses. She has nine years of professional experience preparing individual, partnership, and corporate tax returns.
Lynda has over thirty years of experience in firm administration, administrative support and accounting services. She specializes in Project Management, AR and AP. Lynda has been involved in several aspects of business operation and performs a wide variety of crucial tasks for the firm. As the Office Manager for The Doty Group, she also helps organize firm functions and team-building activities.
Lynnae Fritz, CPA
Manager, Accounting Services and Tax
Lynnae has worked in public accounting since 1999. She graduated from The University of Arizona with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration/Accounting. Lynnae has worked primarily in taxation advising small business owners and individuals on a variety of topics. Prior to working in public accounting, Lynnae worked in private industry as the controller of a commercial general contracting firm for fifteen years. She is a former board member of the American Women’s Society of CPA’s (AWSCPA) and the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC). Lynnae currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Prison Pet Partnership.
Michelle Goforth, CPA
Senior Audit Manager
Michelle has been with the firm since the year 2000. She earned her Bachelor of Arts cum laude in Accounting with a Minor in Economics from Western Washington University. Her primary focus includes Audits, Reviews, and Compilations of various organizations. She specializes in audits of employee benefit plans. Michelle is the chair of the WSPCA Financial Statement Review Committee, a former AICPA Peer Reviewer and a former member of the WSCPA Accounting Careers Committee, United Way Audit Review Committee, and the American Society of Woman Accountants (ASWA). Michelle’s community involvement has included volunteer work for the Zoo Society, Tacoma Rescue Mission, and St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.
Nic joined the firm in June of 2016. He graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with his Bachelor of Business Administration in 2016. His passions include accounting, the arts, and serving his community. He was a bassoonist in the Pacific Lutheran University Wind Ensemble. Nic also founded a nonprofit organization, Artist Mentoring Program. He is the current Director of Community Leadership Workshops for Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (Washington affiliate). Nic is an active member with the Ambassador Club of the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce; he currently serves as the Special Events Chair.
Robert Ingram, CPA
Rob joined The Doty Group in January of 2016. He graduated from American Institute of Business, Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Business Management. Rob obtained his CPA license in January of 2018. He holds active memberships with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Sally McColloch, CPA
Senior Tax Manager
Sally has over 25 years of public accounting experience ranging from large multinational CPA firms to boutique firms. Her focus has been working closely with individuals for personal, estate, and trust taxation. She has also worked with a variety of closely held businesses in the industries of real estate development, property management, professional services, and hospitality. Further, her experience includes working with not-for-profit organizations - providing guidance on formation, governance and compliance. When she's not at the office, she's spending time with her 3 grown daughters and chihuahua, Noodles. She's into hiking and exploring, as well as traveling - she's visited over 25 countries!
Sandra Mills, MBA
Supervisor, Litigation & Valuation Department
Sandra came to the firm in 2015 with 13 years of experience in grocery operations management. In 2018 she received her MBA from Western Governors University. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Washington State University, with concentrations in business administration and psychology. Sandra transitioned to the Litigation and Valuation Department in July of 2016 after spending a year as a member of the Doty Group's administrative team.
Sarah joined The Doty Group in September of 2016. She has a Bachelor of Business Administration (summa cum laude) from Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas. Sarah has 13 years of experience in Marketing, Accounting, & Administrative Consulting in the Hospitality and Service industries. At The Doty Group, she oversees Branding, Web Design, Content, PR, and other aspects of strategic marketing planning and implementation. She is a member of the Association for Accounting Marketing and serves on the Virtual Education Committee.
Stacy Gilliardi, CPA

Stacy has been in public accounting working with closely-held businesses for over twenty-five years. She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Western Washington University. She advises clients in financial statement preparation and analysis, business and taxation matters and consults on internal controls, succession planning, and strategic business transactions. She has worked with clients in a variety of businesses in the construction, manufacturing/distribution, transportation, professional service and hospitality industries. Other focuses include audits of employee benefit plans and litigation support services. Stacy is also an active member of the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA). She is the past Chair of the Board of Managers of the Metrocenter YMCA, volunteers for the Special Olympics and is involved in the Worship & Arts department at her church.

Stephanie joined The Doty Group in June of 2017. As Director of Administration, she provides human resource, strategic planning, marketing, and firm financial oversight. She has over 15 years of leadership experience with local nonprofits, and an additional 10 years of experience in the financial services industry. She graduated from Chapman University with her Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership, and has served in numerous capacities on nonprofit boards throughout the area.
